Diwali gift ideas for family
Sweets and diyas are part of every Diwali. If you also want a gift that is remembered after the festival, here are ideas that people keep.
For parents
- A family photo printed and framed, with the year written on the back.
- A day out you plan for them: a temple visit, a meal, a short trip.
- A star named after them, with a message from all the children on the certificate.
For a partner
- A handwritten letter. It costs nothing and is often the gift kept longest.
- Jewellery or a watch, if you know their taste.
- A pair of stars side by side in the sky, one for each of you.
For children
- Books, a telescope or binoculars, or a craft kit to use during the holidays.
- A star named for them, with a page that shows where to find it: a good reason to go outside and look up together.
For friends and colleagues
- A plant, good tea or coffee, or a box of homemade sweets.
- A gift card, so they choose for themselves.
When to order for Diwali
Diwali is on Sunday 8 November 2026. Printed and framed certificates are delivered within 1 to 2 weeks of ordering, so order them by 25 October to have them before Diwali. A digital certificate is emailed within minutes, and a gift card straight away, so both can be bought right up to the day.
A named star is a symbolic gift kept in our private registry. It is not recognised by the International Astronomical Union.
